A private lesson is one-on-one time with a coach. It’s the fastest and most personalized way to improve in fencing, and it’s available to fencers at every level.
Open to Everyone, at Any Level
You don’t have to be competing. A fencer at any stage — Intro, Beginner or Intermediate — can take lessons to progress faster, smooth out habits, and build confidence. Lessons let a coach work on exactly what you need, with direct feedback, outside of normal class time.
They’re also the backbone of our Competitive track. Serious competitors train mainly through private lessons, shaped around their own game.
Cost and Scheduling
Lessons are billed in 15-minute blocks — most fencers find a short, focused lesson more useful than a long one. See our pricing and registration page for the current rate.
To set one up, just ask a coach at practice. Lessons are usually scheduled around class times and open fencing, and the club can also open on request most evenings — Discord is the best way to coordinate. See our pricing and registration page to pay for a lesson.
Skills Checks
The skills-check lesson — the one-on-one assessment that moves a fencer from our Beginner class up to Intermediate — is also run as a private lesson. Ask a coach to schedule yours when you feel ready.
If cost is a barrier, please reach out in confidence. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit we offer scholarships and a sliding scale.
