We are happy to announce that Fencing Club Asheville has locked in a new location at a dedicated space in West Asheville/Emma. We have got to make a few renovations to our new location before we can practice there. The meeting will cover our plans about these renovations. We are looking for club members and their parents who have experience with Drywall, Drywall demolition, electrical and HVAC projects to help us get the new space ready ASAP. Reach out to me on discord, by email at FencingClubAsheville@gmail.com or by text/call at 301-537-0211 if you are willing to help with planning.

Every club member who is willing will have a role in helping us make our new space a wonderful place to Fence!

15 min delay

The Basketball home game (last of the season) is expected to run late. We will expect to start at 6:45 or a little bit later and run until 745.

Competitive Class change

Competitive Class Time is Moved to 7:00pm Thursday from 6:30pm to avoid conflicting with Basketball Games and practices.

Beginner and Intermediate Classes will remain at 6:30pm on Tuesday. If basketball runs long we will just wait a few minutes and start when they end, and extend class a bit later.

January 2025 – First Practice

Tonight at 630 will be the first Beginner class and Intermediate class of the new year! Open Fencing will happen at 730pm right after. Please drive carefully since roads may be icy. Gym is heated but bring a sweatshirt just in case it’s not keeping up with the cold.

Holiday Schedule

November Beginner Schedule: Tuesday & Thursday

The next start dates for beginners are Tuesday, November 5th OR Thursday, November 7th. The next chance for beginners after that will be in January.

In order to provide more flexibility, for November and December of this year we are going to run Beginner classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Tuesday and Thursday classes will cover the same material, and Beginners can attend either session, but not both.

If you sign up for beginners class this month by emailing FencingClubAsheville@gmail.com, please indicate whether you intend to practice on Tuesday or Thursday.

Helene Relief: Please be aware that Fencing Club Asheville offers scholarship and sliding scale programs for beginners and other classes. If the cost of classes is an issue for you in participating in our sport, please talk to one of the coaches about our scholarship program. We want everyone to be able to fence!
