Membership Reminder

Please note that if you enjoyed the free class last week and want to keep going in our Fall Beginner class you need to complete the $10 USA Fencing Non-Competitive membership at the link below:

https://member.usfencing.org/membership-types

This is a requirement for all fencers at the club whether beginners or not.   Monthly dues are also payable by cash or check.

See everyone tomorrow!  Check out some of these bouts if you want to get excited about your first foil bout! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBEtKw56qm0

Beginners Start next Wed 9/12

Our beginner class will start next wed, 9/12.   Class is full and we have already sent out notifications to those on the wait list whether we had room for them or not.

If you’re confused about whether you’re on the roster for the fall class please email us at fencingclubasheville@gmail.com

If you have previous experience at Foil or Epee, we will always have room for you to come to Open Fencing.

Attention Returning Fencers!

If you fenced with us previously and want to keep fencing Foil this year, please attend our Intermediate Foil class Kickoff on Sept 5th!    If you can’t make it, please write us an email at FencingClubAsheville@gmail.com so we save a space for you.   If you fence epee or just attend Open fencing it’s not required to come to intermediate class.

Also it is time to renew your USA Fencing membership.  A $10 non-competitive membership (or better) is required for all club members.  You can renew here at this link.

Fall Beginner Class is now full

Our fall beginner class starting Sept 12th has now reached maximum capacity.  We do not think we can safely squeeze more beginners into the gym.   We hate to make people wait to start fencing, but it’s the only way we can provide a safe and fun experience.

Please email us at fencingclubasheville@gmail.com if you would like to be placed on the wait list.  We will admit a very small number of additional fencers after seeing what our gym space looks like.   This will be announced by email September 6th.  I will also put people on the Sept wait list who don’t have a slot into the January beginner class roster on request, so please specify in your email.  We’ll send an email in the beginning of December asking you to confirm your continued interest.

For fencers who have previous experience at a competitive level, either with us or at another fencing club, please note that Intermediate classes and Open fencing are not full.

UPDATE: If you are an ACS student or family member please send us an email and we will work something out.

Summer-Fall update – RSVP for Beginner and Intermediate classes

Every Wednesday from here until September we should be open for practice.

Please check back here or Facebook before heading over though, we often have to cancel summer practices on shorter than usual notice.

Fall Kickoff for Intermediate Foil Class will be 7pm September 5th

This year we are creating a more organized intermediate Foil program from 7pm to 8:30pm every Wednesday night.   This program will involve electric boutwork and more intensive training for fencers that have completed one or more cycles of beginner classes.   If you are interested in this program please attend at 7pm on September 5th.  This program requires commitment to purchase (at once or over time) electric equipment.

Beginner classes start September 12th.

Please RSVP by email to reserve your spot.   Send RSVPs to fencingclubasheville@gmail.com

We expect this class to fill up.   There will be a waiting list as well and we will let people on the wait list know if there is a spot open on September 6th.  If you are not on the RSVP list we will not be able to squeeze you into practice.  The gym has only so much room for people to wave swords around in safely.   The next beginner class will start the first week of January.
