I have son that wants to try a class. Is it possible to drop in for a class. He is 7 1/2 but he can handle a saber better than me. Thanks for your help.
Scott
Hi Scott,
7 1/2 is too young for our club. The best thing to do is wait a year and a half and start him at 9.
Success in fencing rests on a love of the sport, forged in a really awesome training environment. We can’t offer that for kids under 9. 6-8 year olds do much better in a dedicated class for their age group. It isn’t very fun to train against 9-14 year olds when you are 7-8, and it’s not always safe either. We don’t have the gym time or space to create a separate class for younger kids right now.
If your son fenced extensively somewhere outside of Asheville, or you’d like some other fencing options in the region, please give me a call at 301-537-0211 or shoot me an email.
Regards,
Bren
