Fencing Club Asheville will follow the closure policy of Asheville City Schools and Asheville Catholic School.  If either of these closes we will stop holding practices until they reopen.  Until then we’re open every Wed night.

If you’re driving a long way, please check for cancellations before driving to practice.

While we’re open, the club has a no handshake policy and please stay home if you feel sick.

Fencing resumes this week!   New Beginners and Intermediates tomorrow, Wednesday January 8th from 7pm to 8:20pm and Open fencing afterwards.

Our beginner class is full, if you haven’t RSVPed, please email us to sign up for the march 25th session.  (If you’re not sure if you’ve RSVP’d please email me at fencingclubasheville@gmail.com )

If you finished Beginner class last session but I didn’t talk to you about what’s next, please come back this session and participate in our intermediate class at the same time (7pm-8:10pm)

We have hit capacity for our beginner class that starts January 8th.  Our next chance for beginners to start will be Wednesday, March 25th 2020.

We will take 2-3 additional RSVPs for the wait list and let people know the first week in January if we have cancellations.  RSVP by email at FencingClubAsheville@gmail.com

If you have RSVP’d but can’t make it in, please let us know at FencingClubAsheville@gmail.com so I can accommodate those on the wait list.

If you’re a fencer with previous experience or an ACS student, please reach out by email or phone and we’ll work something out.

There will be no practice Wed November 27th.  Practice will resume on 12/4.

Our next chance for beginners to start is Wed, January 8th, 2020 (in 4 months)

We will have open fencing this week, August 21st, from 7:30 until 9 or 9:30.

Come fence a few bouts and sweat a little bit to get ready for regular practices that will resume next week, 8/28 for returning students.

Fencing will resume on August 28th for all previous students who were practicing at any time in the 2018-2019 season.   If you fenced last year, you’ll be a member of the intermediate class (also 7pm-8pm) and/or be welcome to attend Open fencing (8pm-10pm) as you prefer.   Please talk to Bren if you have questions about what group is best for you.  Returning members must renew their USA Fencing membership at (at least) the $10 non-competitive level.

For New Beginners, the beginner class will start on September 4th.  Please RSVP by emailing fencingclubasheville@gmail.com.   (If we already emailed, no need to do it again.)  The first class is a free trial to see if the sport is right for you.   More details here: http://www.fencingclubasheville.com/beginner-classes/

After this session of the beginner class, the next chance for new beginners to start will be January 8th 2020.

So we have decided to resume practices as soon as Asheville Catholic finishes their construction project.   We do not have a firm deadline for when this is, they’re done when they’re done.

Please watch this space for updates.  We will definitely be back by August or September at the latest.

Next Wed, May 29th we will start beginner classes at 7:15 and go until 8:15.  The school will have an awards ceremony that ends around 7pm.

June 5th, we will be NOT have practice due to school graduation.

Tonight, 4/10/2019 we are fencing.

Next week, 4/17/2019 the school and fencing club will be closed for spring break.
